opnlttr is an organization that brands itself as a means whereby ordinary persons can write open letters to literally anyone in the world. Grand.
Its proprietor’s state: “You [a letter writer] acknowledge that Opnlttr.com may or may not pre-screen Content, but that Opnlttr.com and its designees shall have the right (but not the obligation) in their sole discretion to pre-screen, refuse, or move any Content that is available via the Service. Without limiting the foregoing, Opnlttr.com and its designees shall have the right to remove any Content that violates these Terms and Conditions or is otherwise objectionable.”
These proprietors rejected an open letter written to Kristi Noem, the present United States Secretary of Homeland Security. The letter was a reflection upon her egregious reference to “The guy is dead; its a mute point” regarding Mr. Pretti, the second blatant extrajudicial killing in Minneapolis by operatives of ICE. I mean, c’mon shot 10 times when he was lying helpless on the ground by these brave patriots, all 10 of whom were terrified for their lives? And then they went back to him, ripped open his shirt to count the bullet holes-that was desecration of a dead body, an act prohibited by custom, law and faith in most sane, rule of law countries in the world.
But the proprietors did not send a note as to why they refused to publish it. The above quote simply says ‘otherwise objectionable’. Ok, what was objectionable and why? Are they afraid of their current president and his coterie of DEI hires? Do they have sympathy for him? Is opnlttr merely a place for people to make letters about mundane private concerns?
If the proprietors read this second letter, I ask that the first be put back up and this second added to it. A note back saying why they disallowed my letter would be a bonus.
(didn’t happen, ah well)
